           LINFIT

Linfit is a pair of Windows programs for data analysis, curve fitting, and graphing.   I am using this web page to make it available for downloading.  Click on the links shown below to try it.  You should be prompted to save it as a file on your hard disk.

Save the msi file in some temporary directory, and then, in Windows Explorer, double-click on it to install the program.  Let me know if you have any trouble getting the program or installing it.  The programs have not been extensively tested on Windows Vista or Windows 7, but should work.

This version has a new spreadsheet module that is consistent with the most Excel formats.

Download Linfit (latest version, January, 2012)

In order to print Linfit's Postscript graphs, you will need a copy of Ghostscript/ GSView, which is freely available from the University of Wisconsin Computer Science Department site.  Note that these programs are available in both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.  Be sure to get the one appropiate for your computer.

Linfit should be able to find Ghostscript and GSView if they are installed on your hard disk in the default location.  If all else fails, save the Postscript file and open it in GSView or any other Postscript viewer.  GSView is a handy viewer for Postscript files of all sorts.

Download GSView:

Windows 7 and Vista users will also need to get the WinHlp32 add-on from Microsoft to use the Linfit Help files.  It is available from Microsoft at

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5143

It is available in 32 and 64 bit versions.  Be sure to get the one appropriate for your computer.
